2005 Resolutions
I've been carrying these around on a piece of paper in my purse for weeks but just haven't had enough inclination to sit down and code. Tonight, fresh out of the bath, I'm in the mood for HTML. Woo hoo!
- Get back into shape - Isn't this usually the top of a resolution list? I gotta go with what works. This year I mean mental, emotional and physical fitness. I'm going to work less, workout more and do more stuff for myself. Plus, I'm going to recover from my surgery and get my knee into shape so I can work pain-free.
- Finish projects already in motion before starting new ones - My "to do" list for around the house is huge and I keep coming up with new things to do instead of completing the ones already on there.
- Go tubing! - I actually managed to accomplish this one in between the writing of this list on paper and the typing of this into the computer. Huzzah! One down! And it was awesome!
- Be more forgiving - As I watched family tension that has been simmering away for years cause problems at Christmas, I realized my tendency to hold grudges is both selfish and destructive. Here's me, getting over it.
- Sing again - I love to sing and I'm a pretty good singer (or I was, anyway) so this year I will join a choir again or just sing in the shower but gosh darnit, I'm gonna sing.
- Organize the house - I have taken care of a lot of the chaos but it seems that more is always bursting it's way into my world. I will continue to purge and get the house in order.
- Stay on the South Beach Diet (or some version thereof) - My body feels so much better when I'm not eating sugar and white flour. My sweets addiction kicks in anytime I let myself slip, though, so I gotta find a way to keep balanced with enough to stay sane but still EATING MY VEGGIES!
- Write more - Is this on the list again? Hmmm, didn't go so well last year but I will have more free time this year which will hopefully lead to inspiration.
- Be more creative in my down time - Actually do stuff when I've got time off like crafts, projects, writing, cleaning etc. rather than passive sitting in front of the television.
- Seriously look at other business opportunities - I get so freaked out that I'm not capable of doing projects that I don't even look into them enough to find out. See also #13.
- Use the phone - I don't like making phone calls so I will let things (like overcharging on a phone bill) drag out or build up to avoid making the call. It really isn't helpful and the time on the phone isn't usually as bad as I expect.
- Keep up the girl nights - It has been excellent reconnecting with my female friends on a regular basis. It will continue.
- Believe in myself - I tend to talk myself out of things before even trying them. I used to be so fearless and gung-ho while now I'm so caught up in fear of failure that I don't even attempt them. I won tickets to the Beastie Boys last year by ignoring the "don't bother" voices. I will do even better this year.
- Take up all the space I need - I found myself hunched up on the bus one day trying to accomodate for someone else taking up more space than she needed (she wasn't overweight, just a space hog). It is stupid and I won't do it anymore!
