Bow before me, mortals! I'm famous!
Okay, not really but something I wrote got published on someone else's page. It was a total surprise and an excellent one at that. Here's the story...
I was reading the TSN.ca wrestling site (yes, I am still hooked on the WWF, it's my life so back off!) when I came across an article listing the 10 hottest women in wrestling. At the end of the article the writer asked women fans to send in their top 10 guys. Since I have all kinds of opinions about the hot guys in the WWF, I fired off an email to Troy, the writer, listing my 10 favorites:
You asked for it... Like your list, wrestlers are rated higher for
looks than talent. This is biased because I only watch WWF...
Edge - Very talented - a big guy for a high flyer. The ladder match
- need I say more? And he's hot, hot, hot!
Chris Jericho - looks, talent and attitude. The silver shirt and the
pout. Irresistible!
Matt Hardy - velvet shirt and high flying. Again, ladder match!
Test - he's just damn cute. The whole Stephanie/Test angle made him
very endearing. Get rid of the nose guard, though.
Al Snow - under all that crazy, he's really cute. Dimples!
Jeff Hardy - not as hot as his brother, but perhaps a better wrestler
(though not for long if he keeps up the senton bombs). Um, ladder
match.
Shane McMahon - surprisingly talented wrestler
Kane - believe it or not, women think his one naked arm and visible
nipple are hot.
Christian - overshadowed by Edge, but attractive and very talented.
Stone Cold - he's gotten pretty flabby, but he has a nice smile and
a good accent.
I figured that was the last I'd hear of it until Troy posted something about how all the women think The Rock is the greatest thing ever (I totally disagree). But to my surprise, later that day I got an email back:
Thank you very much Kate. I hope to put the best list, or a poll of all of
the lists for a future column. Very well done and well written. And a few
surprises... Al Snow, who'da thought!!! Stone Cold is no surprise, my
sister is partial to him and Test also. The WWF really set Test up well for
the female wrestling fan. Thanks again, hope you continue to read Top Ten,
take it easy, Troy.
I was very touched. It was cool of him to write back personally at all, let alone to say nice things about what I wrote. I checked the TSN.ca site a few times to see what the consensus was, but nothing was posted about it yet, and I kinda forgot about it. Yesterday I checked the site to find a story titled "Edge is tops on this list". I think to myself, "It couldn't be," and click the link. The link was down! Argh! They were doing renovations at TSN.ca and none of their stories were there. Of course I tried it several times to no avail. Today, I decided to try again. Lo and behold, it was my list he'd used! See it for yourself!
I couldn't believe it! I had a great big smile on my face when I wrote him an email to thank him:
I hadn't had a chance to browse on the TSN page for a little while, and I almost had a heart attack when I saw my list in your column. Thanks, Troy. You totally made my day!
He wrote me back soon after:
No problem Kate, you sent me an excellent and well written list, kudos to you. I hope TSN didn't like your list TOO much, I hope I am not out of a
job!!! Talk to you soon, hope you continue to read Top Ten, thanks again,
Troy.
So there it is, plebes, something that made me smile for a change, rather than growl. And now that I have fame, fortune and world domination can't be far behind.
