The rantings of a diseased woman - and some video reviews

I hate being sick. I mean, really, who likes it? But I am really fed up with this virus! I finally got some time off work due to renovations at the clinic, and I end up spending the entire time with my immune system at war with some invading microbe (okay, I don't know for sure that viruses are microbes, but let's pretend that I know what I am talking about).

I went to the Doctor today and she told me that it was just a virus. I hate that answer. I always feel like such a jerk for going to the doctor if it isn't something more serious. Wasting those health care dollars and all... I waited for a week before I broke down and went to see her. I figure a week is PLENTY of time to feel like total crap before you go see someone about it. So, she recommended some cough syrup (I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier!) and drinking lots of water (her default suggestion regardless of what is wrong with you).

Alas, tomorrow I return to work after my week of rest(?). Hopefully I won't pass this evil flu along to all my clients, but I can't really afford to take off more time to convalesce. I did manage to see a bunch of videos over the past week thanks to spending all my time indoors:

  • Waking Ned Devine - Enjoyable, although a little slow
  • Little Voice - Excellent work by all involved. And it doesn't hurt that I love Ewan McGregor!
  • Operation Condor 2: Armor of God - Terrible! Jackie Chan was great as ever, but the movie was painful to watch.
  • Shooting Fish - Nice indy British comedy. Kate Beckinsdale is terribly cute.
  • Babe: Pig in the City - Fun, although a little twisted.

All in all, it was a real mixture of quality and genre. I would have to pick Little Voice as the best of the bunch. Probably a little too "chick flick" for some, but hey, I am a chick. So there.
