I got my hair re-straightened on Saturday morning. It took 3 1/2 hours (reading trashy magazines and one issue of
Maclean's) and I've had to be super conscious of not tucking it behind my ears or getting it wet or anything until this afternoon when I could wash it and treat it normally again (hooray for the perma-bun). We went out on Saturday night and I felt like such a princess fussing with my hair all night. It was really hot at the bar and I was so worried about sweating too much and ruining the straightening process. It was pretty sad.
The good thing about going out on Saturday night was that we got to see Theovis' friend Jamie Perry play as
Bocephus King with his Band of Doom. I'd seen Jamie play at an open mic night years ago, so I knew he was a talented singer but it was really cool to see him performing with a band in a club venue for the release party for his new CD
All Children Believe in Heaven. He was on the cover of the
Georgia Straight paper this week too. You should all go out and buy his album!
I've been bustling around getting ready to head off with Theo and Jeff to GenCon in Indianapolis. I'm not much of a gamer myself but I thought the trip would be fun and it will be cool to see a city I'd probably never get to otherwise. With my incredibly poor knowledge of US geography, I was convinced Indiana was in the mid west. I looked on a map and boy was I wrong. We've got a long way to go. The cats are unhappy because they can tell something bad is coming when the suitcases show up on the bed. Their Gramma spoils them rotten with tuna juice so I can't imagine they'll be too hard done by, though.
